Sailing Boot Camp 15th to 17th April
Event Overview and Preparation Guide
The Sailing Boot Camp is just over two weeks away and promises to be an enriching and engaging experience for all participants. The event will span three days, during which attendees will immerse themselves in comprehensive sailing education and practice.
Schedule
Classroom sessions will commence at 11am each day, where we will delve into foundational sailing knowledge. These sessions will cover a variety of topics, including:
The different parts of a dinghy and their functions
Safety issues
Weather
Rigging a dinghy
How a dinghy works
The different points of sailing
Capsizing
Man overboard procedures
Rules and starting to race
Following the classroom sessions, there will be two on-the-water sessions each day, allowing participants to apply the day's lessons in a practical setting. To conclude each day, a debrief session will be held to review and consolidate what has been learned.
What to Bring
Participants are advised to bring a pen and notebook to take notes during the classroom sessions.
Meals and Accommodation
The galley will be open for lunch, providing a variety of meals to refuel and recharge. For those who are camping, breakfast and evening dinner can be arranged upon request.
Final Note
The team is eagerly anticipating a fantastic three days of learning and sailing. We have our fingers crossed for favourable weather conditions to make this experience even more enjoyable.
