It will be great to see as many of you as possible at the club for this event.  As usual it will be self catered so please bring along an offering for the food table, plus any cards for friends and not forgetting a present for Santa's sack to make that special person's day. A good chance for a drink and catch up before the big day.
Also if you have any trophies that you have received outside of Maylandsea Bay Week then please can you return them to Paul Wilkinson on the day.
Blackwater Icicle Race - Sunday 27th December (race starts 11.50)
Having potentially over indulged during the Christmas period why not join us for the ultimate workout. The annual Blackwater Icicle Race is once again hosted by MBSC this year so come and join your fellow members plus sailors from other clubs for what I'm sure will be a great event.
That's all for now except to wish anyone that I won't see before a very Happy Christmas.

*Sailing*

This coming Sunday we have joint racing with the other Blackwater Clubs as
part of Bart's Bash, start time 11.45 off of Osea Island The final details
of like the start line will not be known until Saturday when wind speed and
directions are known. We just need to sign on as usual though and be ready
on the water by about 11am. At the same time there is a cadet race for
Picos at Blackwater SC off Mill beach. If anyone is interested in
doing the pico race please
contact Phil Spillane ( JLIB_HTML_CLOAKING ).

The Autumn series continues with races on the 11th, 18th & 25th October.

The Winter (open) series takes place on the 1st, 15th and 29th November
plus the 13th December for those hardy souls amongst you.

The season finale the Blackwater Icicle race is also hosted by us on Sunday
27th December.

*Safety Boats and Jockey Wheels*

Unfortunately we have managed to damage the jockey wheels on two of the
safety boat trollies. This has mainly come about whilst the boats are being
recovered and being winched back up the ramp. When recovering the RIB (MB2)
and the Whitefisherman (MB3) I propose the following:

- The bow of the boat should be 2 foot from the upright post on the
trailer - this keeps the weight to the rear of the trailer and therefore
less weight on the jockey wheel (This does not apply to Jaffa (MB1))
- Tie the bow line around the post maintaining the 2 foot gap and hold
the bow of the boat on the centre line of the trolley - as the trolley is
winched up it will pull up the trolley and the boat should then sit on the
keel plank (This does not apply to Jaffa (MB1))
- Someone must be on the jockey wheel to steer the boat up the ramp. Do
not move the trolley until some one is steering. The aim is keep the jockey
wheel in line with the winch wire. Use only small steering movements to
change direction - this avoids the tyre being ripped from the wheel.
- When manually moving the boats around ensure care is taken when moving
the boats - don't expect the boat to move forward if the jockey wheel is at
right angles to the trolley!!

Please look after the club equipment - it is needed to look after you.

Due to the damage to the jockey wheel assemblies I am on the hunt for
someone who can fabricate/strengthen from steel the existing unit. The
ability to weld will be essential.

Please contact Paul Wilkinson

*Friends & Relations - taster sessions during 2016 season*

If anyone has friends or relations who are interested in sailing then we
can arrange for a taster session next year.  Please contact Paul Wilkinson
in the first instance and we will arrange a boat for them to go on.  Please
be aware that this will take time to organise so please give plenty of
notice.

Richard.
