Ensure Lawn is cut
Tenders - tidy up the area down by the yellow cruiser and use this area to store known but little used boats

Hopefully see you there.

Easter Monday Cup Race

NewsLetter April 2017

Hi All,
I hope you're all well.  Please see below the latest updates from the club.
Work Party
The committee would like to thank everyone who turned up for the work party on March 25th. We had a good turnout and much was achieved including cutting up and disposing of some more old boats, galley cleaning and ramp cleaning.
Easter Sailing
Some of you will have managed to race last weekend but there's plenty more sailing available this coming Easter weekend for those of us who didn't manage to get down last weekend.  We have four days sailing from Good Friday through to Bank Holiday Monday and don't forget we have the boats from the Harlow Blackwater Sailing Club sailing with us as well so we hope to have a fair sized fleet out on the water.
Good Friday - Easter Series 1 & 2 (All in handicap race), racing starts at 13.35
Saturday - Easter Series 3 & 4 (All in handicap race), racing starts at 14.10
Easter Sunday - Easter Commodore Cup (All in handicap race), racing starts at 14.35
Bank Holiday Monday - Easter Bunny Cup (All in handicap race), racing starts at 15.10
You are welcome to camp overnight in the dinghy park and everyone is welcome to stop behind after racing on Easter Sunday to celebrate the new Commodore's birthday upstairs in the bar.
Club Fees 2017

Thanks to all those who have already paid their 2017 club fees.  Can I ask those that haven't paid yet to pay them as soon as possible.
That's all for now, I hope to catch up with a lot of you over the weekend.
All the best

MBSC Newsletter March 2017

Hi All,
Not long now until the new sailing season begins and the activities are coming thick and fast.  We should also have more boats out in Spring as the HBSC fleet will be joining us whilst their ramp is being replaced.  More details of sailing with HBSC are included with your 2017 sailing programme and fees invoice which should start to arrive with you from tomorrow.  The sailing programme is also available on the club website.
Work Party - Saturday 25th March (from 10 a.m.)

We have plenty of activities to undertake on the day including cutting up boats, deep cleaning the galley and ramp cleaning.  Please bring appropriate clothing and any tools that you think may be useful.  Angle grinders are particularly useful for cutting up boats, with safety goggles and mouth & nose guards a must.  Rubber gloves will come in handy in the galley.

Dinghy Training - Sunday 26th March (10.40 a.m.)

The idea of the day is to use the more experienced sailors to go through setting the boat up ashore, some simple exercises afloat, tinker with the controls, etc. Ideally we need to pair boats off so you can practice against a similar boat e.g. lark v lark, kestrel v kestrel, wayfarer v wayfarer , laser v laser, GP14 v ?

RNLI Pennant Race - Sunday 2nd April (15.30 race start)

An early chance for you to dust off those cobwebs and join us for this one off race to kick start the season

Safety Boat & Dinghy Training - Saturday 8th April (10.00 a.m.)

As in previous years we have programmed safety boat training to refresh people on driving and crewing the safety boats. Safety boat driving and crewing is essential to support the racing programme. If you wish to attend please contact Paul Wilkinson or Dean Saxton (contact details inside the back cover of the sailing programme).  There will also be further dinghy training available as detailed above.

Looking ahead to Easter

There are four days of sailing at Easter (14th -17th April), two days of series racing plus two cup races with the usual prizes available. Details are available in the sailing programme.

You are also welcome to camp if you're brave enough!

That's all for now, I hope to see you all soon.

Newsletter February 2017.

A belated Happy New Year to you all,

I hope you're all looking forward to the light evenings and the start of the new sailing season.  A couple of things coming up include;

The 2017 Sailing Programme

This year's programme is in the final stages of development and will include all the old favourites plus some new ideas.  The spring series should be busier than usual with members from Harlow & Blackwater Sailing Club joining us whilst their ramp is repaired, so please come along and swell the numbers.  The new programme will appear first on the club website over the next couple of weeks with hard copies to be sent out shortly after that with your 2017/18 membership & fee renewal invoices.

Pre-Season Work Party - Saturday 25th March

Make a note in your diaries. As usual we will meet at the club from 10 a.m.

Jobs this time will include ramp cleaning, cutting up old boats and tidying up the garage.  If you have any personal items in the garage that you wish to keep then please advise us in advance.  Please bring appropriate clothing, footwear and any tools you think may be useful.  Angle grinders will be particularly useful for cutting up old boats based on the knowledge gained at the last work party.

See you soon

Geoffrey Walkley Des Bennet.

Geoffrey Walkley receives the Desmond Bennett Trophy for 2016.

The Des Bennett Trophy, awarded for exceptional service to the club, was presented at the Annual Prize Giving dinner at the the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club in Burnham on the 4th December. This marked the end of four years as Commodore and many years committed to the safe running of the club.

We all thank you Geoffrey.
